The woods are lovely, dark and deep,

But I have promises to keep.

And miles to go before I sleep,

And miles to go before I sleep.

Trying to think of all the things I need to do before I go off to China.  Had a discussion with my cousin P_ a few days ago that was illuminating. I need some more clothes before I go over there for goddamn sure - they do not have my size at all. My cousin is an average size guy (5'10"ish, slim build)and HE couldn't find shirts he didn't rip out of like Lou Ferrigno, so that says it all for me. I'll have to take along almost all my size 13/14 footwear, as well. I lose my luggage, it will be a total SNAFU situation.

I also plan to try (haven't worked out how much room I have in my luggage yet) to bring along a good dictionary and thesaurus for my english teaching - figure it might be invaluable. At the very least, I may be able to sell it to someone if I don't necessarily need it. I also plan to take along some literature to read, but haven't taken a good look around yet for new stuff. I tend to go for philosophical fare when travelling, I find that works well. I have yet to read any Nietzsche, maybe something by him. . . .I will take suggestions.

I wonder if it's safe for a foreigner to smoke weed in China . . . probably not. I guess the last time I smoke for a while will be my going away party. There's always my good buddy liquor and his main squeeze beer to tide me through.

I should probably sleep tonight. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is winding down in the background . . . .oh wait, the credits are rolling. heh, forgot that - cool credit roll - up the highway on the screen into the distance. Fuck. Enough synapses are firing away to keep my mental acuity above sleep mode, but far too low to really engage in anything other than medium range musings. Philosophizing about life will have to wait for more inebriation and a fire in my belly. Next time.

Donald Pleasence wants me to go and blow up a disused military base.

Will in Japan I wanted to buy some of the local style foot-ware; I'm size 11/12. The only place in the whole country that could help me was a place in Tokyo that sold exclusively to Sumo wrestlers.

On reading
I found that reading stuff about your own history and culture while immersed in another was interesting. You had a bit more distance from your own up bringing  and all that and could be a bit more impartial about what you were reading.

Thee's no evidence anywhere to show that you actually wrote "The night is dark, the woods are deep," in your drunken haze. None whatsoever. Looks to me like you totally succeeded it until that comment, the evidence of which can also be removed.

woof.
